Monthly Prayer: Praying for the Nation

Date: 1st August 2007
Time: 3.15pm to 4.15pm
Venue: T11A Open Compound
Speaker: Louis
Singapore is an island of success
In all her spendour, lies secrets unknown
These secrets are well kept
These secrets are oblivious to us
Among us all, this beautiful island is in danger
We call upon people who care
People who were chosen to make a difference
In God we trust
In Jesus' name we pray
For the secrets of the devil to be revealed
Haha, hope you like the poem there! Well, for the month of July, the theme for monthly prayer is Praying for the Nation!
Indeed Singapore is a blessed country. Within Asia, Singapore shines because no other Asian country is comparable to Singapore in terms of wealth, health and standard of living. But behind all these blessings, the Devil is most definitely at work.
A minority of Singaporeans are faced with the work of the Devil! It may not have happened to you or your family, but perphaps your friends, your classmates, your neighbour, or even the lady selling noodles at the hawker centre near your home! The truth is, the social health and spiritual health of many Singaporeans are at stake here.
Did you know that crime rate has increased from 614 cases in 2001 to 843 in 2005?
Did you know that abortion rate remains at 24% for the past 5 years?
Did you know that unemployment rate has increased from 97500 in 1995 to 100500 in 2005?
Did you know that abortion rate remains at 24% for the past 5 years?
Did you know that unemployment rate has increased from 97500 in 1995 to 100500 in 2005?
All these are just some of the problems faced by many Singaporeans. The most recent of social problems is the issue of homosexuality. Should we be more tolerant or more open to homosexuality? NO! As God has commanded for us not to fall into sexual sin, we should not be tolerant to homosexuality.
We, not just as citizens (or residents) of Singapore, are also children of God. We have a commitment to Singapore but more importantly to God. We can only serve one master, God or Singapore. I choose to serve God, how about you?
To all who have decided to choose to serve God, let us pray vigilantly for the people of Singapore.
1. Let us pray against the work of the Devil in Singapore. Pray against the destruction the Devil has caused.
2. Let us pray for our leaders to make right decisions, make God-driven decisions for the nation.
3. Let us pray for a voice for the Christians in politics. Let our concerns be heard in the Parliment and the government to listen to our cries.
4. Let us pray for the non-Christians in Singapore. Pray for openness of the heart to receive Jesus as their saviour and deliver.
Father in heaven, I choose to serve you and not the nation for I can only serve one Master. Lord I pray for the nation. As difficulties and strife linger among many Singaporeans, Lord I pray you will set them free of these problems. I also pray against the Devil, who is destroying the spirits of your people. I rebuke the Devil in the name of Jesus and I pray for blessing for your people. Lord, in all things I trust you. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
